Mary J. Rogel, PhD, LAc
Mary J. Rogel, founder of East Point Associates, is a licensed acupuncturist who played a major role in legalizing acupuncture in Illinois.  She has been the Chairman of the Illinois Board of Acupuncture since 1997, and served for many years on the Board of the Illinois State Acupuncture Association. Mary opened her practice in Hyde Park after graduating from the Midwest Center for the Study of Oriental Medicine in 1986.  Her acupuncture practice has a strong focus on orthopedics and body mechanics, and she incorporates many non-needle therapies into her treatments, including QiGong Chinese exercise classes.  Mary's professional activities include teaching other acupuncturists (she is a licensed acupuncture continuing education provider in Illinois) and serving as the editor of Oriental Medicine Journal.  Mary also holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from The University of Chicago.
Kenji Aoki, LAc
Kenji Aoki is a licensed acupuncturist who learned the art of acupuncture as an apprentice to the distinguished practitioner of Chinese Medicine and Christian Minister, Shin Hak Pang.  Kenji strongly believes that the spiritual essence of Oriental Medicine is its benevolence and compassion for one’s clients. He specializes in Japanese acupuncture and tongue diagnosis, which he combines with Reiki, an energy-based non-needle therapy.  He also uses a technique of advanced Japanese acupuncture called New Meridian Therapy, which uses electromagnetic energy to check the acupuncture meridians.  If imbalances are found, they are then treated using only four extremely small needles. Kenji is the only practitioner in the Midwest currently offering this advanced technique.
